MacBook Optional Hardwire for Projection

AIRPLAY must be TURNED OFF when selecting to project connected via hardwire. You cannot have airplay on and have the wiring below at the same time. 

 

Instructions are also attached for easy printing. 

 HARDWARE NEEDED: 

Locate the “Thunderbolt” connector near the desk and plug it into the thunderbolt port on the right side of your MacBook. 

Locate the audio cable and plug it into the left side of your MacBook.  It’s a thinner cable with a “headphone” type of jack at the end. Plug it into the left side of your computer.

 

 

ONE TIME SET UP

Computer

  1. Connect all hardware listed above
  2. On the MacBook, select the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen, then System Preferences
  3. Select Displays
  4. Be sure the Display tab has "best for..." radio button highlighted. Yours may 
  5. On the Arrangment tab, locate and be sure Mirror Displays is selected. This only needs to be done once. 

Audio

  1. On the MacBook, select the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen, then System Preferences.
  2. Select Sound
  3. On the Output tab, locate and click on the Headphones option. 

TO DO EVERY TIME PROJECTING WITH HARDWIRE: 

  1. Confirm you are disconnected from AirPlay
  2. Confirm Hardwire connections are secure (see Hardwire section at top of this page)
  3. Use your projector remote, locate and press the Source Search button. It should automatically stop at either Computer 1 or Computer 2. If it goes right back to the HDMI Apple TV default display, double check your hardwire connections
  4. To use audio, Flip the Computer switch on the wall and adjust with the volume nob.
